I slept in real late today. It was 1PM. That was fine.

I went to Safeway and got snacks and stuff.

I have started playing email chess again. My opponent maki1 has already gone off-book and I'm trying to figure out what to do.

I got home from work and then ran over to Rob's Quick Stop for some ice. The nice lady who owns the place is always rather unfriendly when I go there after not having been there for more than a week or so. How does being unfriendly help promote your business? They have plenty of customers so whether I buy pop and ice more or less often isn't really going to make a difference to their profits. I think they mainly depend on the guys that go there for cases of beer...

Gosh darn it. I missed the Super Bowl, again. Well, actually, I have never seen a Super Bowl. I guessing it must be, er, ah, real super? There was a lot of post-super bowl traffic on Highway 3. I thought it would be swarming with State Patrol—but nothing. Didn't see any erratic driving except for the guy who sped up to tailgate me for a while after I did a cruise-control pass at 60 MPH.

Now Seinfeld in on. Yipeee! It's the one with Mel Tormé.

32° and overcast. Not raining, which is nice.

I had to run outside and put the new license plates on the car. They're good till Feb, 2010. Waited till the last minute to change them. Easy, four 10mm bolts.

I couldn't log onto Xanga this morning. Some kind of server error. 

It looked there was frost on the roof next door but there was no frost on the car, so that was nice.

My shift at work has been pushed back half an hour so now I punch out at 7:30 PM instead of 7 PM. I wasn't too happy about the change. Somehow this increases my workload, I guess that was the plan.

I'm watching Boston Legal tonight... It's just ending. Maybe 48 Hours Mystery next.

At this very moment in time we here in Bremerton are being pelted yet again with a major snow event! I have officially become a global warming doubter. We need to get this global warming in gear. Everybody, go out and buy a Hummer. Now!

36°. It was clear skies today. It must have gotten darn cold last night because it was all frosty out this morning. It's going to get a bit warmer in the coming week, so that's good.

Last night I got to see the last part of 60 Minutes when I got home from work. I think it was Saturday night when I saw the Boston Legal rerun that incorporated clips from an old Fifties TV drama (possibly Playhouse 90) that showed William Shatner as part of a father/son lawyer duo. The clips were presented as Denny Crane's memory flashbacks while being held hostage by the son of a murder victim. Boston Legal didn't seem to worry to much about realism and yet it still worked pretty good despite the unreality factor.

I'm making split pea soup for dinner. It ain't much but as M— P— says, it'll keep me alive 'till breakfast.

I fixed the space heater last night. The conductor in the power cord had broken from flexing too much (metal fatigue) I'm always moving the heater around. I had to cut out part of the cord and reattach it with a couple of wire nuts that I dug out of the basement.

Tonight I've had Oprah & Dr Phil on. I just mute the parts I don't care about... now it's Seinfelds that I've seen before.....

I have the furnace set to come on at the lowest setting it has, I think 55° but I turn it off at bedtime (don't want the CO to get me).

I turned on the furnace for the first time this winter last night because I had only two working Presto Heatdishes. Now, this morning my newest space heater has conked out. I may be able to get it working after I open it up and take a look inside, they aren't complicated...

It is chilly, 28° and foggy this morning.

My big thing I was going to do today was my 2008 tax return. Around midnight last night I googled e-file to find out how to do that. I went to what I thought was the best e-file site and just started filling out the forms. It was easy as pie. I didn't rush through it but the whole thing took me less than 90 minutes. That is, the time from Google search for e-file sites to clicking on the submit return button. I even had to go out to the car to fetch my W-2 form.

I couldn't e-file before this year because I had to mail certain child support documents along with the return in order to get a full tax refund. Now that the kids are 18+ and assuming I don't father any more children, I won't have to deal with that any more.

It got up to 52° here in Bremerton. B-A-U-tiful.
